This is a small trick to restore the Desktop Icon in the taskbar, there are two methods and as follows:

Method 1:

Go to --> Start --> Run -->regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32.dll

and Press Enter


Method 2:
copy the below text and paste in the notepad and saveas the filename with extension .scf and paste in the Folder

"%system drive%:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch"
